Some things are just guaranteed to relax you, and they vary for everyone. Whether you throw on a special movie or comfort TV show, listen through a familiar album, or put on a podcast to calm your mind, there’s something for everyone. Some things that are guaranteed sources of comfort for yours truly are 1) Studio Ghibli films and 2) Lo-fi Beats to Chill/Think/Sleep To. From the lush landscapes of the forests in Princess Mononoke to the seemingly endless fields Howl conjures up for Sophie in Howl’s Moving Castle, there is no shortage of beautiful imagery and powerful storytelling in Ghibli movies.
Similarly, if I want my mind to wander into a similar kind of relaxation, I can always turn to a nice lo-fi playlist. I let the sounds of soft guitars, constant beats, and colorful pianos take my mind to a lush and peaceful place.
