Moon Podcast Power MAKE UP!! Episode 3: Listener’s Companion

Hello. Was it me you’re looking for?

Well if what you’re looking for is screenshots from Episode 3 of Moon Podcast Power MAKE UP!!, then you’ve come to the right place! If you’re new to the podcast, you can start listening here on POMEmag or on iTunes, and then come back here to see some of the discussion topics, screenshots, and goodies I dug up for your viewing pleasure / edification.

A little bit of housekeeping before we get started: the podcast is a day late this week because Saturday was my birthday. Mea culpa, friends.

Alright, here are all the things:

beryl in the opening

Here’s Beryl in the blink-or-you’ll-miss-it neat opening animation looking rad as hell.

I’m not going to rob Kate Beaton of sweet, sweet pageviews (also she’s so wonderful, why wouldn’t you want to check out / revisit a Kate Beaton comic? Do you have bad taste or something?), so here’s a link to the volleyball hunks. I also just realized that I’ve been reading Hark, a Vagrant for almost ten years now and oh my god where has the time gone.

OK guys, I now know that I have a problem with two things:

I’M SORRY. Also, what a weird pop culture sandwich of references that is. I don’t think Neil Gaiman would like being associated with all those sad raccoon deaths (among others, boo hoo hoo).

I’m not going to make you guys google it for me:  wikimoon says that Beryl & co are the “Dark Kingdom.” So does wikipedia, so that’s settled.

I mentioned a weird jewel startup that vibrated when you got calls. It’s called Ringly and for at least the last year or two, they’ve been on pre-order, so I don’t think Ringly’s going to be a thing, yall. I guess people just didn’t want to spend $200 on vibrating costume jewelry.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't understand it but I want one

We know the chances are pretty slim but if we get any fanart, I’ll put it in the listener’s guide for next week. (Fanfiction is also acceptable. Don’t pretend you guys aren’t as into this as we are).

usagi hearts

Usagi looking at Rei for the first time. So cute! Also, Ami, please collect your eyes because they are falling off of your face dude.

paradise kiss

Teen me reading this like

This is the scene from Paradise Kiss. I will see if I can find the new translation for a comparison some other time but this had a very profound impact on young me as I got super into extra melodramatic shoujo, which is a drug without a cure, my friends.

cat over head

Luna’s face tho

cat over head 2

Poor, long-suffering Luna.

I hope I didn’t offend or hurt anybody’s feelings with my strong anti-ghost rantings. Upon reflection, I’m sure that I’ve pretty much condemned myself to terrifying ghostly visitations or an afterlife haunting a tech startup or some other horrible fate completely due to my arrogance. Also, please remember: I don’t know shit. I really have no credibility when it comes to divining the supernatural or however you’re supposed to put it. Please feel free to send your spooky ghost stories to moonpodcastpower at gmail and we will reprint them in this blog next week.

cute mamo

Mamoru looking super cute this episode!!

mamo id

Mamoru’s ID, just in case you were curious.

flight attendent

Definitely not Keanu Reeves.

Also – is it just me, or does Usagi use the disguise pen to get especially stacked? If you remember the doctor outfit from last week, or if you look forward to the princess outfit from next week (oops I mean spoiler alert), it seems like kind of a pattern. But it’s not like I wouldn’t have done the same thing at 14. Tune in next week for a really intense discussion about femininity and body image.

“Well, Actually…” notes:

“Sailor Whoops” notes

There are a WHOLE BUNCH OF WHOOPS this episode — I was totally wrong.

Aside from Ami up there earlier, Rei has a really rough time this episode. There were so many off-model shots of her that I couldn’t figure out which ones Ashley was talking about. So here are all of the ones I found.

rei tiny head

OK, sorry, just kidding. Here’s the real screenshot:

whoops 01 rei face

Her face is so tiny and low on her face though.

whoops 04 a

I think this is the one where her face looked like a puddle.

Sailor Gumby

Cat-eye-glasses-face Jadite

whoops faces

I don’t really know why but these guys kind of look like the goombas from the live action Super Mario Bros movie. Maybe it’s their expressions. Yikes.

You get three this week! (Partially to make up for the delay)

Corrections

  • Ghosts might be real, some say
  • Ashley’s last name is Gallagher. You know how sometimes you make a typo, and then you copy and paste it a few times and you don’t notice? Well I typoed the whole everything and did my cohost a great disservice. She’s rad as hell yall.

Well that’s all for now! Please review our podcast and give us good ratings if you’re feeling inclined! Also, you can email us or tweet @SailorPodcast if you want to send us your spooky stories / yell at me for being a d-bag about ghosts. Thanks & until next time!
