Afternoon Snack

Well! The last week of August turned out to be kind of a doozy, huh? Let’s ease back into the regular routine with a sampling of the best and worst of our corners of the internet.

POME hero Gina Gagliano hosts a podcast about the graphic novel publishing industry, and today’s episode is Q&A! Tune in for everything you never knew about publishing, but were afraid to ask.

After Marvel hero Dust got a ridiculous redesign featuring a skin-tight latex-looking niqab (??!!!??!?!?!), Sara Alfageeh swooped in with
an immensely cooler, undeniably better version, and… it’s kind of all we want, now.

Some thoughts on what “redemption” actually means for men like Louis C.K. who grossly abuse their power.

We still need to laugh while we wait for the patriarchy to crumble, so here are 51 comedians who never forced anyone to watch them masturbate!

“All career advice for women is a form of gaslighting,” you say? Mm, yeah, sounds about right.

There must be another way to end workplace discrimination, don’t you think? Maybe if you throw money at this Indiegogo for a delightful-looking queer horror zombie flick called “Eat The Rich,” you’ll get inspired to find alternatives.

You could also throw money at the Kickstarter for Sparkler Monthly’s 6th year, holy cow!! These friends of POME do great things, so hop on over and give them some love!

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund has a new president, and is helping Small Press Expo with a fund to support cartoonists who are being sued in a defamation lawsuit for opening up publicly about the abuses of a small press publisher. The news comes as a huge relief to those of us who love SPX and who want abusers and predators out of comics!

Speaking of making comics better, you must read this interview with Jay Edidin, who earlier this year successfully put public pressure on Dark Horse to cover their trans employees’ transition-related health expenses.

SURPRISE!! Last week, Oni dropped a whole host of previously unannounced Dream Daddy comics that you can enjoy right now!

The comics world also mourned Marie Severin last week, a pioneering woman in comics and one of Marvel’s best-ever artists, period.

We all know that Cartoon Network has been killing the game, but if you’re not watching one of its newer treasures, Craig of the Creek, here are five reasons why you should.

If you haven’t watched The Good Place, please watch The Good Place!!! And then watch this promo for season 3, which we seriously CANNOT WAIT for, ahh!!

Check it out, our very own Ashley Guillory has a comic about menopause up on Oh Joy! Sex Toy!

We leave you with maybe the best news of the week, which is that SCIENCE CONFIRMS that goats like it when humans smile. You’re welcome.
