Afternoon Snack

Let’s have a post-brunch munch on all the tastiest pop culture news of the week, shall we?

First things first: Group Chat contributor and dear friend of Pome, Scotty, is running a Kickstarter for a gorgeous set of rainbow enamel Pride pins, called Utopia! Throw your money at his charming and very well-designed Kickstarter, please!

For some (or many!) exhausting reasons, last week’s Met Gala feels like 100 years ago, but if you’re still riding the glo wave from this year’s superb looks, check out this article on them about the designers who defined and redefined the fashion of camp.

Are you an artist who needs help drawing animal heads at various angles? Sigh no more, friends!!

In perhaps the biggest comics news of the week, we learned that Oni and Lion Forge merged, resulting in layoffs at both companies, and Lion Forge HQ moving to Portland. While it will be interesting to see what this means for two of the most innovative indie publishers in the scene, we’re also deeply saddened for the extremely talented editors and staff who were so suddenly let go. Keep an eye out and support your faves, folks!

Elsewhere in big announcements, Disney announced release dates for a whole slate of films, including a new Star Wars trilogy. If you scroll way down there, you’ll also see that Nimona also has an official release date! 2021 what’s uuuuuup!!

Speaking of our beloved failchildren… well, we’ll just leave this here.

Bill Nighy is now a Pokémon expert, thanks to his role in Detective Pikachu. We’ll end with this gem of a quote:

“The ancient Mew was probably my top, top favourite because he’s just majestic and he was the very first,” said Nighy. “He was elegant and powerful.”

See you next week, if we survive what is sure to be a mess of a Game of Thrones finale!!!
