It’s Pride week, friends!!!

If you have the time, space, and desire to cry, please read this incredible essay about Olivia, the legendary lesbian cruise.

To me, Olivia was getting the chance to spend an afternoon with a 73-year-old who’d worked for 11 years as a bartender at my favorite lesbian bar in Brooklyn. Olivia was hearing an American explain U-Haul jokes to a confused, elderly Australian woman. Olivia was my long talk with Lynette about anti-trans feminism in the UK, and being impressed with her easy command of they/them pronouns — yet again proving my worries about older lesbians wrong.

Meet Brenda Howard, the bisexual activist who organized the first Pride marches!

It also happens to be New Evangelion week, so treat yourself to a reflection on Hideako Anno’s sad masterpiece. I mean, is there anything gayer than depression?? (Please don’t answer that.)

It’s decided: next time the Pomes go to TCAF, we are definitely making a trip to the Garfield-themed restaurant, and you should, too!!!

This very comprehensive article at the Beat about the possibilities and problems with unionizing comics is well-worth your time.

Not unrelated, there appears to be a lot of research in the UK about the effects of shortening the work week, and the latest conclusion is that people only need one day’s worth of paid work to receive the mental health benefits associated with having a job. Sign me up!!!

I, for one, can’t wait until it is my one-day-a-week job to train employees using exclusively Cruel Angel’s Thesis.
