Afternoon Snack

Haha, whoops, this week snuck up on us! We’re shifting to a Tuesday/Thursday schedule this week due to Reasons. So, enjoy this especially late Afternoon Snack as we take a slow log flume ride on the flat circle track that is time.

On a not-unrelated note, it’s June, and lots of people in the US are getting vaccinated and heading out into the world to reunite with friends and strangers. If you’re feeling hesitant, not necessarily out of fear, but because you’ve adjusted to a briefly less productivity-obsessed society, you’re not alone:

I considered it a pass-fail year, and anything you had to do to get through it—indulging inappropriate crushes, strictly temporary addictions, really bad TV—was an acceptable cost of psychological survival. Being “unable to deal” was a legitimate excuse for failing to answer emails, missing deadlines, or declining invitations. Everyone recognized that the situation was simply too much to be borne without occasionally going to pieces. This has, in fact, always been the case; we were just finally allowed to admit it.

The good news, though, is that June also means PRIDE!! Our friends at Power & Magic Press are having a Pride sale all month, so if you need some high-quality, guaranteed-queer comics in your life, now is the time!

Our collective favorite Space Romance, Mass Effect, is making the rounds with old and new players alike since the release of the Mass Effect Legendary Edition remaster. But you can’t make Imogen from Rock Paper Shotgun change her decisions in a fresh replay – and you can’t make the POMEs do it either!!!

Today’s peak wholesome content comes in the form of a profile on Austin’s most famous and beloved dog, Benji, companion of YouTube yoga star Adriene Mishler.

Capitalist Overlord Alert: if you have an Amazon device (like Alexa or Kindle), you may want to check your settings: today, June 8, Amazon rolled out a feature that automatically shares your wifi connection on an open network that can be accessed by anyone nearby. It’s an opt-out instead of an opt-in feature, so click through for instructions on how to disable those settings on all of your Amazon devices individually. *guillotine emoji*

To close for today: does anyone else like, really want all of these cups???
