Afternoon Snack

Yeah, it’s Friday instead of our normal Tuesday snack. We’re finally emerging from the tin foil hat we’ve been hiding under during this brutal Mercury retrograde – if you know, you know.

Can we talk about how this week (and last week, and the week before that) has felt? Because we related way too strongly to this cursed vibe:

Sometimes when things are Really Bad, it’s helpful to hear from others who agree that things are Really Bad, instead of pretending otherwise. If you’re in that boat, you may want to give Nicole Bedera’s essay Why Are So Many Survivors Supporting Johnny Depp? a read.

Soooooo, if you didn’t hear about the little indie comics dustup over the (US) Memorial Day weekend, Polygon has a tidy little summary of what went down with TCAF artist announcements. We are really relieved that the organizers of one of our favorite festivals rescinded their invitation to a really toxic N/F/T slinger, but we really hope that this isn’t the harbinger of a grim future in the indie comics scene at large.

Elsewhere in the comics world, we couldn’t be more excited for Erica Friedman’s new book, By Your Side: The First 100 Years of Yuri Anime and Manga. Happy Pride, y’all, it dropped on June 1st!

Another much-needed and well-timed Pride announcement? Our Flag Means Death renewed for season 2!!!! Let’s goooo!

We’re just gonna leave you with these sweet, wise words from the inimitable Lynda Carter, because you deserve it!
