We made it to May! Give yourself a pat on the back and treat yourself to a snack.


This is interesting: following May Day strikes by Amazon, Whole Foods, and Instacart workers (among others), Amazon VP Tim Bray resigned dramatically, writing a public blog post decrying Amazon’s working conditions and calling the company “chickenshit.”

“At the end of the day, the big problem isn’t the specifics of the Covid-19 response,” Bray said. “It’s that Amazon treats the humans in the warehouses as fungible units of pick-and-pack potential.”


Writing for the Atlantic, Ed Yong once again has written the most oddly-comforting, level-headed essay on the pandemic, Why the Coronavirus Is So Confusing. We highly recommend the read: it made us feel a little less alone in our struggle to grapple with this crisis.


This week’s favorite quarantine TikTok designation goes to: a patient grandma who brought Crone Sophie to life.


Across the pond, nature is healing, and the UK’s largest bird of prey has returned to the skies for the first time in 240 years! To us crones-at-heart, this feels like cause for celebration and maybe just a little cackling, as a treat.


In entertainment news, it looks like Taika Waititi has signed on to direct a new Star Wars. Here’s to hoping we still have movies, I guess!


For a little more timely gratification, we’re excited to hear that Hulu is planning to offer a WGA minimum blind pilot script deal to two Latinx-helmed projects through a partnership with The Black List.
