Afternoon Snack

How is your Monday going so far, POMEs? Whether you’re bustling through SXSW, or are trapped indoors, reading about it on Facebook, here are some links to help you pass the time.

Nicole Chung on racism and the “benefit of the doubt“:

This wasn’t the first time I’ve heard What if you/your kids have had bad experiences with people of color? as if all people of color are a monolith; as if we don’t have plenty of “bad experiences” (there’s a euphemism for you) with white people. Yet we’re honestly expected to carry no baggage at all, just bring trust and faith and boundless patience to each new interaction and relationship — to offer well-intentioned white folks the benefit of the doubt, every single time.

Next up in reboots and revivals:  the first new Cardcaptor Sakura manga in like 16 years (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

A slightly-belated list of 10 great cartoonists to celebrate this International Women’s Day. All of the folks on this list are fantastic cartoonists and you should buy every single thing they do.

DOLLY PARTON IS GOING ON TOUR. I REPEAT: DOLLY PARTON IS GOING ON TOUR. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.

Another Mass Effect Andromeda staff member leaves Bioware. What the heck is going on over there? Hopefully this isn’t an ominous portent of things to come with this game…

The disappointing reality/trap of overbearing sexual harassment in STEM academia.

We swear to all the deities that this is the most heartwarming video of furries you will see this week/month/year.

Capping off this week’s Afternoon Snack with two deliciously in-depth articles about Dragon Age Inquisition to sink your teeth into. These articles both bring some top-shelf critical analysis, and with writing so good that you’ll be mulling over them for days to come:
