Afternoon Snack

It’s still cold (boo), but we’ve gathered some news and tidbits that will warm you right up (yay)!

Sigourney Weaver during Fashion Week is a mood, a phenomenon, a balm to our earthbound flesh-caged souls!!

Vanity Fair theorizes that high fashion is just The Matrix cosplay now and, frankly, we don’t see anything wrong with that.

Okay, there is ONE thing TECHNICALLY wrong with that, and its red-pillers and the seeming ubiquity of their Frankenstein-ed pop culture ideology.

Hollywood Reporter has an excellent in-depth profile of Sesame Street to celebrate it’s 50th year on air!

Ah, yes, that feeling when the widespread inability to cope with the capitalist hellscape becomes a marketing tool for relating to all of us burnt out consumers of fake orange juice?????

Elsewhere in Capitalist Hell, the 2018 Authors Guild survey shows that author incomes have fallen a drastic 42% in the last decade.

Meanwhile, another film adaptation of Dune is in the works, this time by Denis Villeneuve, director of the actually-pretty-damn-good movies Blade Runner 2048 and Arrival. At Tor, Emily Asher-Perrin has some thoughts on how to handle the somewhat inherently fat- and homophobic depiction of Baron Harkonnen.

Some more exciting book-to-screen news: Michael B. Jordan is producing a film adaptation of Marlon James’s brand-new epic fantasy novel, Black Leopard, Red Wolf, a much-needed breath of fresh air for a genre that has remained overly-reliant on white European medieval trappings.

If you’ve read this far, congratulations, because we’ve saved the best for last: POME contributor Kaz Rowe has turned us on to our latest mobile game OBSESSION!

Get out there and take care of those Moomin friends!!
