Afternoon Snack

Thirsty teens, excellent TV, and a grandpa with his guitar

March 12, 2018 at 10:16 am

Happy Monday, my POMEs! Welcome back to Afternoon Snack: your weekly assortment of links and articles to munch on as you move along through your day.

Jane the Virgin is a good show that none of us deserve. It’s not a guilty pleasure — it’s legitimately great and the most recent episode, directed by Gina Rodriguez herself, only further proves the point.

Somebody on reddit posted a video that his grandpa made about Fallout 3 and we don’t even care what the people in the comments say. This grandpa and his song are rad as heck.

One teen was all of us when she bit through her retainer in reaction to Michael B. Jordan going shirtless in Black Panther. Now, Michael B. Jordan has offered to buy the teen a replacement. Sometimes good things do happen on the internet!

We love hosting International Sailor Moon Day here in Austin, but maybe there’s some potential for an ISMD / Buffy Prom crossover event in our future??

SXSW has taken over our fine city, and that includes Brian Michael Bendis doing DC promo!

As if we needed any more reason to be in a constant state of fury in regards to the Prez of these United States, Trump again goes after Representative Maxine Waters, saying that she has “very low IQ”. Deeply, deeply infuriating. Fuck you, dude.

In better news, the top two movies at the box office this weekend are Black Panther and A Wrinkle in Time — two movies from black directors and featuring black leads. Congrats to Ryan Coogler and Ava DuVernay!!! Y’all are doing the goddess’s work and we are thankful for all that you do.

Pomegranate Magazine

POMEmag is the internet’s premier pastel, macabre feminist dork publication. Or at least, a very pastel, macabre feminist dork publication that is leaning into that identity pretty hard.
