There’s nothing more peaceful than laying out under the night sky and watching the stars. Here are a few playlists that you can listen to in order to enhance your star-gazing experience.

Deep Dark Keys, 27 songs, 1 hour 44 minutes

Get into the astronomical mindset with with the haunting piano music of Deep Dark Keys. The songs on this playlist include other instruments and vocals, but the piano steals the show in every song. Contemplate whether or not we’re really alone in the universe while listening to a plethora of indie artists with mad skills on the 88’s.

Under the Stars, 32 songs, 1 hour 54 minutes

This appropriately-titled playlist features a variety of indie and folk acoustic music that melds perfectly with an evening staring at the stars.  It’s best for nighttime contemplation holding hands with someone whose company you enjoy. And if the mood is right… maybe you’ll end up doing a little more than just holding hands.

Late Night Jazz, 28 songs, 2 hours 30 minutes

If you’re looking for something with a little more soul then I suggest Late Night Jazz. This playlist features all the greats: Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and more. Though the music is reminiscent of a dark smoky bar rather than the evening sky, the combination of infinite space and this cerebral playlist will create the perfect backdrop for you to unlock all of the universe’s secrets.

Deep Focus, 115 songs, 9 hours 15 minutes

This playlist has a great mixture of acoustic and digital music with sparse vocals so there’s a little something for everyone. And at over 9 hours long, you can gaze at the stars and contemplate life for as long as you need to. Warning: POME is not responsible for any alien abductions that may occur in the case you fall asleep to this long, soothing playlist.

Atmospheric Calm, 67 songs, 5 hours 36 minutes

If you want ambient music with vocals while you gaze into the night’s sky, then you’ll love Atmospheric Calm. You can enjoy the range that digital music offers without anything too heavy to distract you. Filled with bands you’ve never heard of, you’ll be the coolest person at an intergalactic mixer.

Sci-Fi Radio Dramas, 42 tracks, 19 hours 18 minutes

If space is better as a setting for stories rather than just something pretty to stare, at then choose instead to listen to the famous short stories and novels sci-fi legends such as George Orwell, Orson Welles, Isaac Asimov and more. Each story is performed in the dramatic radio style of the 1950s. The actors and actresses make it easy to imagine yourself in the middle of a space station or an alien planet far from Earth.

No matter which playlist you choose, you will find the perfect arrangement to accompany you in your stargazing endeavours. All you need now is the perfect night sky, a blanket, and all the contemplative thoughts your brain can muster.
