You’ll never convince me that outer space is out of style. And if you’re anything like me, you welcome any additions to your wardrobe that let your geek chic vibe shine like the brightest of stars.
With that in mind, I have two words for you: Space. Jewelry.
What better way to celebrate an enigmatic mystery that transcends everything we think we know about life and reality than with some rad earrings and an artsy necklace?
After scouring the vast reaches of the Milky Way, I bring you 10 pieces of beautiful space-inspired jewelry that will let your inner astronomy nerd shine without breaking the bank. (With bonus spacey lyrics since I’m a huge nerd).
1) “Mini Space” Earrings by BaobapHandmade on Etsy
No one can stop us now, ‘cause we are all made of stars. Be still my heart. These earrings combine three of my favorite things: tiny embroidery, space, and handmade jewelry. Super cute, these studs would work with a casual dress or even your new Star Wars t-shirt and berry cardigan . . . hypothetically.
2) Solar System Necklace by nappyhappy on Etsy
Meet me in outer space. We could spend the night, watch the Earth come up. Of all the solar system necklaces I’ve come across, the polymer clay used to create the planets by hand makes this one an immediate standout. What a great way to add a chunky, artsy accent with a nerdy bonus for anyone looking closely! Unfortunately, it’s currently sold out, but I couldn’t resist including it.
3) Constellation Necklace by PetitesPierres on Etsy
We are stardust. We are golden. There are many versions of these constellation coin necklaces, and what I especially love about the ones in this shop is that they feature the connecting lines of each sign, sparkly stones for the stars, and they’re affordable! All zodiac signs are in stock at the time of this publication.
4) Cosmic Bracelet by MagicTwirl on Etsy
You can’t take the sky from me. I get weak in the knees looking at wearable art! This hand-painted wooden bracelet is such a stunning statement piece and would look lovely worn in a stack or alone. If you have normal-sized hands and can rock chunky circle bracelets like this without gravity claiming them, feel my envy.
5) “Fly Me to the Moon” Locket by kharaledonne on Etsy
Let me play among the stars; let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars. Khara Ledonne’s hand-painted lockets appear as simple little gold balls with a surprise inside. I was fortunate enough to come across her work while browsing the New York Public Library gift shop, and I can confirm these necklaces are absolutely stunning in person.
6) Space Adventure Earring Pack from BoxLunch
Put me on your rocket ship and take me out of sight. I recently found this super cute earring set at a brand new local BoxLunch store. Talk about a score at a delightfully nerdy gift shop! My favorite pieces are the little Earths and Saturns, but all of them are fun and comfortable to wear.
7) Mars Dust Necklace from The Meteorite Exchange, Inc.
Satellite’s gone way up to Mars; soon it will be filled with parking cars. Fit for Dejah Thoris herself, this necklace vial contains what the website claims is real dust from a Martian meteorite. Of course, we’re going to have to take their word for it, since it would be a lot easier to come by some other type of dust and sell it that way, but I’m going to throw out a genuine seems legit in this case.
8) “I Just Need Some Space, Man” Necklace from Eclectic Eccentricity
Please don’t shoot me into outer space. Whether you’re imagining Major Tom, Matt Damon, or Sally Ride, this little astronaut will inspire you to “reach for the stars” while you’re gazing up at the night sky . . . or just gazing up at Netflix.
9) Meteorite Pendant from The Space Store
Here is the news: the weather’s fine, but there may be a meteor shower. In the same vein as the Martian dust necklace, this one features a meteorite fragment and makes an ideal gift for someone you’d describe as “literally out of this world.” Not that you’d ever resort to cliche puns. You’re better than I am.
10) Full Moon Pendant by SomeMagic on Etsy
Far above the moon, planet Earth is blue, and there’s nothing I can do. Classy and simple, this layered necklace celebrates our beautiful home. If you’re an Earth nerd like me, you know what a challenge it can be to find pretty jewelry featuring our blue dot, but this necklace is a showstopper.
Bonus: 11) Midnight Planetarium Timepiece by Van Cleef & Arpels
Drifting, falling, floating weightless, calling home. This pricetag on this incredible watch keeps it beyond the reach of mere mortals like myself, but I wanted to include it here for its sheer coolness. Featuring a 3D miniature solar system with independently moving planets, it showcases the positioning of our planetary neighborhood. (Check out an affordable alternative here.)
I hope you’ve enjoyed my interplanetary findings! Whether you’re blasting off on a new adventure, bolding going where no one has gone before, or exploring a galaxy far, far away, you’ll be prepared to accessorize.
Is there any other spacey jewelry floating around in the cosmos that you love? Let us know! (Seriously, this is important to me.)
