DIY Stamps: A Comic How-to

Make your mark on the world! Sam shows us how to design, cut, and apply our own handmade stamps. You can use them for: literally anything! Have fun with it!

DIY STAMPS! By Dairy Sam.
MATERIALS:
To carve: Scissors, knife (adult supervisions needed)
To stamp: Styrofoam or soft material, eraser, potato
To reinforce: Wood (or any hard surface)
To stamp on: Plastic or glass to pour paint on, paint or ink (acrylic), paper or fabric
To stick: Tape or glue
Use one or all materials! Use anything you may have lying around! Be creative.
PLAN YOUR DESIGN!

Make what makes you happy!!!!!
Plan your design! Think of what you want to make.
CUT THE STAMP!
1. Draw the design
2. Cut it out
OR CARVE IT
3. Cut potato or eraser in half
4. Draw the design
5. Carve it out!
Use adult supervision if kids are using cutting tools!!
MAKE T STAMPABLE!
Wood block, glue, stamp
Hard surface, tape, stamp
Stamps, stick, wood
Stick in separate pieces for different stamps!
Attach a hard object for easy grip to stamp!!!
Unless it already has a backing (potato for e.g.)
PAINT OR INK!
Your stamp can be as big or small as you want!
Choose your colour(s)!
Pour!
Lightly press and it's ready for stamping!
Prepare your pain on plastic/glass! Make sure it's not too thin or think (will look gloopy)
LET'S GET STAMPING!
On paper!
On fabric!
Reapply paint every time. Play around and mix colours! Don't be afraid to experiment!
Have fun stamping! Make sure to let the artwork dry!
Clean up supplies and enjoy.
