Afternoon Snack

There are places, so many places, on this planet where people have been hit so, so hard recently. We each help in our own ways, and one of the ways we hope to help is by serving you this small bit of interesting internet every week. Do what you can to help others, and do what you can to help yourself. On to the Snack.

This is a very good and informative comic from Niki Smith about Germany’s totally boring, functioning government. From over here in the US, this seems so blessedly….. mundane. (Even with the results of this weekend’s election.) Good job, Germany.

This has got to be the best use of an internet comments section in human history, and we are so thrilled to get the backstory behind it because WE LOVE GOSSIP

We here at POME have cultivated and deep and unabiding love for the trashy drama that is the CW show Riverdale. So of course we are entirely thrilled for the announcement that SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH will be getting her own CW treatment!!! Not only that, but it will be based on the very spooky The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, where witching is hardcore and her aunts eat literal human flesh. If you can’t wait for the show, we definitely recommend these comics (and just in time for All Hallow’s Eve!!).

After L’Oreal severed their relationship with trans model Munroe Bergdorf when she made a social media post about structural racism, we are so stoked to see her as the new face of Illamasqua!! She looks fierce (of course) and we’re glad to see that Illamasqua creating a space for humans to stand in their individual truths.

This tale of the “Freest Little City in Texas”, a libertarian experiment with democracy, is like a a real-life nightmare Parks and Rec storyline.

Allegra Frank’s experience at Tokyo Game Show’s real-life dating simulator is a joy to behold.

If you were wondering what kind of herbs the witches of medieval Europe used to curse their neighbors and cure what ailed them, a 1,000-year-old manuscript of herbal remedies is now available online!! Hit it up for all your alchemical needs.

This is a good article from Heroine Addiction about how easy it is to hate on things that are full of feelings and aimed at teenage girls, especially if you were one of those feelings-full teens yourself.

So much of the world is devoted to tearing down teenage girls at every opportunity, and as an adult, an educator, and a feminist, I must strive to be better and act as a supporter for girls of all ages. That means supporting their stories.

Look out for each other! Y’all are the best. See you next week.
