Afternoon Snack

Good afternoon, POMEs! Whether you’re freezing your butt off on the east coast or enjoying the lovely Texas sunshine, we’ve got plenty of interesting articles and links to warm your winter bones. Here are some of the things we’re reading and thinking about this week.

It’s Witchsona Week 2016! Just in case you’re not familiar with Witchsona Week, here are the details:

✧ draw yourself, your characters, anything you like as a witch
✧ fantasy witches, wiccan self-portraits, anything you interpret as “witch”
✧ no warlocks or wizards. witches only, inclusive of all genders

Read up on Witchsona Week and check out the witchsonas that have already been submitted over at the official Witchsona tumblr.

✧✧ blessed be, POMEs✧✧

And what better way to celebrate Witchsona Week than by preordering this awesomely witchy t-shirt by friend-of-POME Caitlin Zellers?

Mallory Ortberg’s “A Guided Meditation For Visualizing The Destruction Of Your Enemies” is Chicken Soup for the Resentful Crone’s Soul:

Select one enemy at a time. Select them with all of the powers of discernment you possess. Imagine you have them carefully pressed into the fibers of your heart, where they are safe and warm for the moment. Show them the tenderness of an executioner with pity in his soul.

Y’all probably already know that The Little Mermaid’s Ursula was inspired by legendary drag queen Divine, right? “Unearthing the Sea Witch” really captures and celebrates that connection.

The people behind Welcome to Night Vale are launching their own podcast network and with it, a brand-new spoopy podcast called “Alice Isn’t Dead.”

Billed as “a mix of weird Americana, pulp horror, and serial mystery,” Alice Isn’t Dead will be available for download from iTunes and other podcasting services as well as a Libsyn RSS feed.

[Screaming, both joyful and otherwise, intensifies]

On the Fuck-off Fund —  a story that might be unfortunately familiar to some POMEs:

You’re telling your own story: You graduated college and you’re a grown-ass woman now. Tina Fey is your hero; Beyoncé, your preacher.
You know how to take care of you. You’ve learned self-defense. If any man ever hit you, you’d rip his eyes out. You’ve seen Mad Men, and if anyone ever sexually harassed you at work, you’d tell him to fuck right off, throw your coffee in his face, and wave two middle fingers as you marched out the door.

We hope that you have a fruitful, joyful week ahead. Have a Witchsona to share? Let us know in the comments!
